ANSI Z136.1 - Safe Use of Lasers

Willow serves as a lightweight hardwood material often found in furniture, crafts, and structural elements, prized for its flexibility and natural grain. Laser cleaning proves essential for restoring willow by gently ablating surface contaminants like paint or grime without causing mechanical damage, which preserves the wood's delicate texture. During the process, willow responds favorably as the laser energy vaporizes impurities while the material's porous nature allows minimal heat penetration, though excessive exposure can lead to slight charring if not monitored.
At 1000x magnification, grime clings to the wood's fibers in thick layers. Dark particles fill every pore and obscure the natural grain beneath. The surface looks uneven and matted overall.
After laser treatment at 1000x, fibers stand out clean and distinct. Pores open wide with no residues blocking their paths. The surface gleams smooth and reveals the grain clearly.
